Abstracts: Knowledge society prescience involves determination of possible futures, taking into account existent as well as emerging technologies, and of strategies likely to yield the maximum economic, social and security benefits. Information Technology has not made any significant development in the rural areas in the developing countries. The society is struggling for getting the essential infrastructure to implement the Information Technology. One should not forget that rural areas have got rich tacit knowledge and knowledge resources. But they need proper channels to update the existing knowledge base to compete with the external world. The article explains the concepts of knowledge society, the goals required to reach the knowledge society. It briefs the pattern of knowledge communication in rural areas by introducing new information systems and major problems and drawbacks the IT projects face during implementation |
