Moscow Kremlin Museums pay great attention to the creation of the database of the museum’s collections.
To achieve this:
- in 2001 the museum installed “KAMIS” system created by “Alt-Soft” company.
“KAMIS” system was installed on 45 workstations - at the repository departments, at the department of the registration of the museum objects, at the exhibition department and the photo studios. It was made specially for the comfortable and operative work
- the museum has created two digital photo studios, which have digital cameras of the high resolution (Leica S1 PRO, Hasselblad, DIGIMEQ).
The files of digital images have the size of up to 250 Mb.
In 2001 the museum has introduced “MARC-SQL” information system created by “Inform-systema” company for museum library. Now each any scientific researcher may use library electronic catalogue at his workplace.
In 2003 we started to introduce the system of the description of ancient buildings “KAISA” created by “Alt-Soft” company.

3. Resources and technology for the attribution of the museum’s collections.
One may use special thesauruses to describe museum object for database.
At this moment the museum’s staffs are creating the following thesauruses:
- materials;
- technique;
- authors;
- manufactures.
Every position of the thesaurus is checked. Each position has an information article and picture.
To coordinate these activities the museum has introduced a special position of the editor of the “KAMIS” system.

4. Informational policy and the museum’s collections.
The museum seeks to provide wide scale information services. In particular:
- to introduce the subject index of the museum’s collection on the web-site of the museum.
- to secure the reception of the inquiries, handling of the inquiries and provision of the information of the museum’s objects from the informational system.
- to produce virtual exhibitions.

5. Special Professional Training for the provision of informational services.
There are three main problems of our special interest:
- the experience of the provision of the electronic catalogues by other museums and museum communities.
- the use of dictionaries and reference books to form the inquiries.
- the provision of the information services on the Internet.
