Stanke Gerd, GFaI Berlin, +49 30 63921610 Abstracts: The method of active 3D-data acquisition by coded lighting, which is actually widely used for freeform-digitalization in technical solutions, but also in the field of medicine and culture is introduced. Results and examples of applications in the cultural sphere, achieved in the frame of project works for development and improvement of devices (prototypes) and related software are given. The contribution further discusses some problems and solutions regarding the automated calculation of surface and solid models from high-density point (co-ordinate) clouds, measured in different environments.
In the second part of the contribution a special approach of spectrally coded lighting is introduced, which allows to measure the form of moving or changing in shape objects.
Finally some questions regarding the necessity of two-dimensional documentation versus 3D-modelling and representation in concrete applications are discussed.
