Natalia Nikolaevna Yevteeva , Ph.D., senior researcher Abstracts: The paper presents the international project, its main goal is to create and to place in the Internet large scaled databases containing the descriptions of materials from audiovisual collections of Russian archives.
Besides the project is purposed for Internet educational resources development (in particular connected with the Russian history) basing on the collections of these archives.
The important feature of the project is e-commerce: paid granting rights for using copies of audiovisual materials selected on the base of created databases.
The project was supported by a number of international organizations - USAID, Internews, Open Society Institute, UNESCO and also by Russian Foundation for Basic Research. US company Abamedia and Texas University are taking part in the project.
The specialized software functioning in the Internet and on CD for large scaled databases development was created within the framework of this project. The research work in the area of searching images and video clips using visual content attributes is also implementing.
Yuri Bukhshtab - Ph.D., the Head of Laboratory at Keldysh Institute of Applied Mathematics RAS, the author of more then 50 scientific publications, the developer of compilers, artificial intelligence system, software packages, database management systems, hypertext authoring tools.
Natalia Evteeva - Ph.D., the senior research at Keldysh Institute of Applied Mathematics RAS, the author of more then 20 scientific publications, has an experience in information retrieval systems development, databases, hypertext applications, supercomputers.
Keldysh Institute of Applied Mathematics Russian Academy of Sciences is one of the largest research centers in Russia. It was founded in 1953.
