Abstracts:

Modern computer multimedia and Internet technologies development, lower cost producing and using multimedia products make it possible to create information systems and multimedia CD-ROMs about monuments of Russian Art for the purpose of perseverance, education and information dissemination.
Preservation and description of National Cultural Heritage is very important problem in all leading countries in Europe. In spite of low financial support Yaroslavl State University, Yaroslavl Museum-Preserve of History and Architecture and Yaroslavl Art Museum work in the same direction.
The multimedia CD ROM “The Saviour-Transfiguration Cathedral” was developed at the beginning of the 2001. This disk is the part of anthology of CD ROMs “Churches of Yaroslavl”.
The Cathedral was built in 1516 on the place of its ancient predecessor of the 17th century after the Moscow Prince Vasily III''s order. It was built by Italian masters, those invited by the Moscow Prince for the Kremlin developing. In 1563-1564 the cathedral’s interior was decorated with magnificent wallpaintings and during all the following centuries up to 1919 the Transfiguration Cathedral was one of the main cathedrals of the Yaroslavl-Rostov Eparchy.
After the White Guard Revolt was suppressed in Yaroslavl, the Cathedral was closed. The restoration started at the 1920s, in the Saviour-Transfiguration Cathedral, with its architectural appearance. The lasted for nearly 80 years – up to 1998.
Some years ago, Yaroslavl State University and Museum-Preserve of History and Architecture, have printed multimedia compact disk "The Saviour-Transfiguration Cathedral". That disk has a very small circulation. The current version of program was completely rebuild and added with new information.
Multimedia CD-ROM "The Saviour-Transfiguration Cathedral" contains information about the outstanding monument of Russian Culture of the 16th century, which has played a significant role in the development of Yaroslavl architectural and painting school. Disc includes the set of multimedia excursions ordered from the original interface, devoted to the church architecture, main topics and particularities of the wallpainting, icons and iconostasis, and also to restoration history.
The church is presented by more than 100 modern and unique old photos.
The disc presents unique video clips of the places closed for public access today. The content part of the CD-ROM was prepared and edited by researchers of the Yaroslavl Museum - Preserve of History and Architecture.

 32 Mb RAM (works slowly if less)
 8x CD-ROM drive or faster
 Microsoft compatible 16-bit sound card
 PCI/AGP display adapter with more then 1Mb video memory or better, graphic resolution 800*600 dots with High Colour (65536 colours) or higher.
