Abstracts: In the beginning of 2004 there is going to take place the exhibition of Moscow Kremlin Museums at the Arts and Exhibition KunstHall in Bonn. The working name for this exhibition is “Moscow Kremlin in the mirror of 800 years’ history”. By the initiative of Kunsthall there was decided to include the 3-D historical reconstruction computer model of Moscow Kremlin to the exhibition.
In order to accomplish the project successfully there was invited the third partner - the Technical University of Darmshtadt (TUD), which has an experience of digital documenting of construction objects from the Fund of World Cultural Heritage (Venice, Vatican). The students of Technical University from the faculty of “Computer design in Architecture” have high qualifications in programming in CAD.
There is the fourth partner of this project, which is the Russian State University of Humanities (RGGU).
The basic document of this project is the 4-sides “Protocol of intensions”, signed in March 2003, where the final staff of partners, integration of parts, partner’s responsibilities and the rights of usage of final product were stated.
Project stages:
- Technical University of Darmshtadt proposed for discussion the new concept of Reconstruction;
- The Museums of Moscow Kremlin worked out the demonstration script of “Virtual movie”;
- The composition of bibliographical compilations on this topic and the selection of materials for photographing and digitalization began from December 2002;
- The main coding principle for exhibition objects was developed;
- The FTP server for sending the coding files was ordered.
The main goals of Project:
- The virtual part of the project of exhibition that is planned to prepare the viewers to percept Moscow Kremlin not only as depository of materials of this exhibition but also as an town-planning complex and a very unique place, the center of secular and religious power of Russia;
- Presentation of the 3-D Reconstruction at the Internet (sites of Moscow Kremlin Museums, TUD, KunstHall;
- Educational and research aspects (the students of both Universities have seminars on the real-life example, they test new technologies, for Museum – the developing of graphical database)
- International 2-sides collaboration in preparation of the Project
