Profile:Togliatti State University was set up in 2001 as a merger of Togliatty Polytechnic Institute (founded in 1951) and Togliatti branch of Samara Pedagogical University (founded in 1988). Now, TSU is a dynamic academic institution, providing high quality education in both engineering and humanities. TSU is recognized as a largest and leading university in Togliatti and Samara region. Its reputation rests on the ability of its faculty to operate at the frontiers of knowledge and to integrate such knowledge effectively info their teaching. Departments at TSU are united in two major blocks: Engineering and Humanities. Overall there are 3 institutes, 15 departmens, 72 chairs and Research Center. The University is organized 13 subject areas in engineering and applied sciences, 7 in humanities and 9 research centers, including the recently set up tribometry reserch center. Togliatti State University has steady cooperative links with the Russian Academy of Science, particularly, with Institute of Physics at the Academy of Science, INSA (France), Institute of Design and Engineering Information and Technologies (Russia), Institute of the Volga river ecology studies (Russia).
